True Self-Love and the Heart Chakra in Pregnancy

Healing the Emotions of the Heart Chakra

The heart chakra when it is diminished or under active we can often feel a range of emotions or even a lack of emotion. Almost like we become numb with day to day life. You may feel unworthy of love, feel sorry for yourself, and scared of rejection. We may struggle to give or receive love so fear of commitment, or fear of being alone can come up with this imbalance. Overall you can feel very disconnected. Remember this Chakra is the bridge so if it's offline it can either be hard to connect to our rooted foundation of safety, the creative side and the self of self of the first three chakras or you can find it hard to find your voice, trust your intuition or be open to wisdom in the upper Chakras.

When the Heart Chakra is over active or excessive energy, you may feel demanding, moody and even melodramatic. You may play the martyr or be a bit more conditional with the love you do dole out. We may give too much of ourselves and say yes when we should have said no. We lack boundaries with this excessive energy. We also tend to fail to give ourselves love. We ignore our needs and burn out.

Emotional dis-regulation with a Heart Chakra imbalance can present as:

  • Sadness

  • Bitterness

  • Loneliness

  • Depression

  • Resentment

  • Restlessness

  • Trouble Sleeping

  • Ruminating thoughts

Offering yourself a lot of grace, and taking care of yourself is of utmost importance to keep this Chakra in alignment. Lots of self-hugging, self-talk, and tapping can help up come back to the center to keep the bridge strong.

When the heart is in alignment, we emit more love so we receive more love. We spread love and compassion to our families, co-workers, friends, and community. It's a ripple effect! You feel more deeply connected. You see more good in the world and you tend to want to do more good too. So embrace the love and spark the energy of the divine so you can be in a place of more balance and unity.

Crystal Allies

  • Rose Quartz

  • Emerald

  • Chrysophrase

  • Green Adventurine

Rose quartz is all about the love and the heart chakra. It's known as the stone of unconditional love. It emits strong vibrations of love and support the healing of emotions and relationships. It is a very calming stone and encourages peaceful feelings. Having some beside your bed table when you are healing some emotional stuff is very helpful too. I like to put some in my tub or even my daughters so that we soak up all that good loving energy. You can also place a piece in all four corners of the nursery for protection. Love is the most powerful thing as we all mothers know! This stone is all about self-love so be sure to take inventory and see how you can take care of yourself better.

Emerald is a friendship stone and the symbol of true and love.

Chrysophrase energies the heart and sacral chakra and balances their loving energies. It can help with meditation, and promotes love of truth too!

Green Adventurine is all about abundance! Abundance of love is the most fulfilling for our souls.  Green Adventurine gives us the strength to push out of our comfort zones and to take action. This stone keeps you calm and cool even in more uncomfortable situations or feelings. This stone is also about luck and to give and receive love is pretty lucky!

Pair this with pyrite, citrine and quartz for a super charged abundance manifestation tool!.

The beautiful boundaries of the Rose

Crowning Rose.

Rose is such an amazing ally for guiding us through issues of our emotional and energetic bodies. It shows the beauty of opening. I often share the crowning rose  (above) for my students’ birth spaces to remind them that the rose unfolds slowly and that there's no rush in birth. It is safe to slow down, take deep slow breaths, move your body, and get into your rhythm. Don't let anyone disturb that natural flow. I teach techniques that help release unconscious beliefs and get you deeply relaxed and I see it help in so many birth scenarios!

A Roses' aromatherapy calms the body almost immediately and its thorns remind us of its boundaries. Medicinally, it is extremely nutrient-rich, is a blood purifier, a wonderful nervine, and uplifts the mood. It is very anti-inflammatory, it's astringent so it helps to tone mucus membranes and dry up wet conditions, and is a diuretic so it helps you pee which you probably do enough of in pregnancy!

During pregnancy, I would always meet with a trusted herbalist to make sure what tea you drink is safe and of course, always ask your provider to make sure there are no contraindications with medications.

Here are my two favorite humans who happen to be Clinical and Folk Herbalists. Set up a consultation or browse their shops!
